Do you support data feeds for Google Local Inventory Ads?
Yes! We support inventory data feeds for Google Local inventory ads and free local listings.
If you have one physical location, you only need to provide a store_code. If you have multiple physical locations, then our system supports location-specific inventory for the major e-commerce platforms.
Note that Google has an extensive Implementation Guide for Local Inventory Ads. It is not as easy as a product feed, because Google will want to verify that your inventory is actually present in the store before approving you for the program.
Is there an advantage or benefit to having local listings?
Local listings would be good if you can verify your inventory with Google, and people near you search for your products on Google. They would appear as "available nearby" or something in search results. If your business is more B2B, then it may not make sense, but if you have a showroom, then perhaps. Home improvement products is a good example where local inventory makes a lot of sense.
How do Local Listings appear in my Google Merchant Account?
Local listings are treated as completely separate listings from listings for online shoppers. They even appear as duplicates in the product list in your Google Merchant Center Account.
What is the 'Missing inventory data' error?
This occurs when you have a product feed, but no corresponding local inventory feed. The local inventory feed tells Google the quantity you have on hand at each physical location.
Note that this error only affects local listings, and does not affect any other destinations like Free Listings, Shopping Ads, and Display Ads. You can confirm this by going to Products > Needs Attention > View History, and filtering by Marketing Method.
If you do not need Local Inventory Ads, you can remove this error by going to Data Sources, clicking the product feed, choosing Data Source Setup, and then selecting Use product data for online stores only option for the Usage of product data from this data source setting.
